Horsepower For Kids is a recent place we’ve found in Tampa Bay but one we have already come to love very much!

Horsepower For Kids is a non-profit organization that provides a farm and petting zoo in Tampa near Oldsmar. They provide a fun, educational opportunity for children and adults to interact with and care for animals that have been rescued from a variety of situations. And there is SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE!

When you arrive you are transported into another world. It is incredibly beautiful and lush with a little waterfall and gorgeous Florida flora. As you walk through, you begin to start seeing all the animals. This place has SO MANY ANIMALS! The front area has a pond with koi fish, porcupines, the horse stables, and the restrooms.

As you continue to walk through, you enter the playground area where there are more animals, the reptile room, a place to hold guinea pigs, the petting zoo and the train stop to ride the train. My boys loved this area! There is a lot to see and lots of fun to be had!

As you continue through the animal sanctuary there are hundreds of animals! There are foxes, camels, wolves, pigs, and even a Zorse! The boys loved walking the trails and seeing all the animals. They even have more chances to feed and pet animals along the walking trail.

Then after walking the trail and seeing all the incredible animals, you come to a larger open field with a tire swing, some hanging swings, a zip line, picnic benches, and the horse field! The horses were very friendly and let the boys pet them.

Finally, as you walk out of the gate of the open area, you come to the pony rides! The pony rides are 3$ extra but my boys loved it so much and it goes to an amazing cause, so I’ll probably pay to do it each time!

Overall, Horsepower for Kids is an INCREDIBLY fun and educational place for kids. We loved our visit, and now that we have an annual membership (only 100$ for a family of four) we plan to go at least twice a month!

A Note: Horsepower for Kids is open to the public Thursday-Sunday, so plan to go on those days! And the first Thursday of each month is only 5$ admission!
