Now, I’ll start this post by saying there are SO many beautiful and fun beaches in Tampa Bay for kids. I’m sure so many of us locals have a favorite beach to take our kids, this is just my personal fave in the Bay for littles! 🌊

I have chosen Sunset Beach as my favorite beach for kids because it has a small park, a pavilion with shade, picnic tables and bathrooms; the parking is very close to the beach itself; and there is a small rock pile that the kids like to play on. Plus, the view is absolutely beautiful, and since it’s south of Treasure Island it’s usually less crowded.

Having three children under the age of five, close parking is essential, especially when I take the kids to the beach without my husband. I have a million things to carry (including the baby) so the shorter the walk, the better. Thankfully Sunset Beach offers the closest parking on an actual beach I’ve been able to find. You can park right across the street from the small park, right next to the pavilion, and right next to the beach. There is also a walk up to the beach without stairs so you’re able to bring a wagon to carry all the kids supplies. Now my brother would laugh at me for this, but my kids love to explore the tide pools and play on the rocks at sunset beach. It gives them a lot to explore, and helps their gross motor skills to climb. The rocks are never wet so they aren’t slippery, and they’re small enough where the kids are surprisingly safe when they play on them. That being said, always keep an eye on your kids just in case 😂

Another reason we love Sunset Beach is because of the small park here! There is a small playground and some swings my kids love to play on before and after we hit the beach. This area also has showers, a pavilion with shade, picnic tables, and bathrooms. It’s super convenient and fun for kids!

Sunset beach also has some spectacular sunsets, so it’s a great place to take the kids anytime of day!
