Sunken Gardens is one of my absolute favorite places in Tampa Bay and St Petersburg. Nestled in the middle of Downtown St Pete, you would never guess such a lush tropical oasis could exist in the middle of a city. Sunken Gardens is a plant ladies paradise, full of exotic plants from around the world and it is over 100 years old! You can stroll through winded paths, explore cascading waterfalls, see beautiful demonstration gardens, and see more than 50,000 tropical plants and flowers. A place like no other, it is an absolute must visit. We have passes and our family likes to go at least once a month! It’s a favorite for me to take the kids on a solo trip, and my husband and I love to go on dates there! I could truly spend hours in this magical place.

One of my favorites in Sunken Gardens is all the Monstera Deliciosa plants they have growing throughout the garden. They are HUGE! With leaves as big as my kids and even some as big as myself. They are breathtaking and beautiful and I always have to stop and get a picture of the various gorgeous fenestration patterns each leaf has. I also love the Monstera Tree that is here. A tree completely covered in hundreds of Monstera. It is stunning!

Another huge reason I love Sunken Gardens is it’s a great place to take kids! My boys love the gardens! They especially love to feed the fish and see the various wildlife they have here, including Flamingos, turtles, birds, and koi fish! It’s also a great place for forest schooling/ home schooling outings! This place is full of educational content and gives children a wonderful appreciation and respect for nature and wildlife.

And it would be doing Sunken Gardens a complete disrespect to not comment on how absolutely amazing the plants are here. They are so incredibly unique and perfectly fit together. Any time of year you visit, there is always something new in bloom. I’ve been more times than I can count and I still always see or discover something new! This place is absolutely beautiful and amazing in every way.
